Show Notes

Discover the bold new Yéyo High Proof Rosa Tequila, crafted at NOM 1414 by Master Distiller Sergio Cruz—the same legendary distillery behind some of the most sought-after additive-free tequilas in Mexico.

In this review, I break down what makes this rosa-style, high-proof tequila stand out — from its agave-forward aroma and bright floral notes to that subtle red-fruit influence from wine-kissed barrels. Bottled at over 50% ABV, this expression delivers both power and elegance, showing exactly why NOM 1414 continues to set the bar for authentic craftsmanship.

If you’re curious about the growing “rosa tequila” trend — and wondering whether Yéyo got it right — this review will help you decide if it deserves a spot on your shelf.

[00:00:00] Most Rosa tequilas are just marketing gimmicks. Pink tequila, that's all show and no soul. But this one, it's different. We're talking about Yayo's high proof rosa, straight from nom 1414. Created by none other than the famous master distiller Sergio Cruz, the man behind some of the favorite high proof expressions that are out there and some of the best tequila on the market. Now, this isn't your average tequila wearing a rosy disguise. It's bottled high proof. 50 ABV. Rested long enough in that wine to give it this beautiful color. Color. Now, Yayo did something a little different with their Rosa. They aged it in three different barrel types. A Sarah barrel from France, a sherry barrel from Spain, and a port barrel from Portugal. All of them are 33 and a third of percentage. To make this another cool thing, first Rosa ever to come out of nom 1414. And the beauty of this, they're able to age it and bring these flavors, yet still keep that yayo signature cooked agave on the forefront. Let's dive into the nose of this one. On the nose, I instantly get a vibrant cooked agave. I pick up some floral, that's like wild flowers, and then some fruit, some like strawberries and maybe even a rose petal. It still screams out 1414 though. Let's dive into it. Wow. Bright, peppery, heats up in the front. Then it goes into these ripe berries, a little bit of light oak and a touch of like a vanilla cream. That's amazing. The high proof carries that intensity of the agave. Keeps it right there in front, but it's not harsh at all. It's very elegant, if that makes sense. It's also really balanced and clean. The finish, it's long, it's dry, it's slightly tannic, so you get a little bit of that dryness from the wine barrels. You get a nice, like, palate sting or buzz, and you get agave sweetness and a little bit of floral spice. [00:01:46] It really is the best of both worlds. Just the boldness of the high proof with the finesse of that Rosa. I need to have another drink. Yay. Who's already built a great reputation. Clean, honest tequila. The high proof Rosa may be the most daring thing or most daring experiment they've done yet, but it's really turning out amazing. Powerful, it's aggressive. It's absolutely worth seeking out if you want something that pushes the boundaries of a Rosa, yet keeps tequila in the forefront. And speaking of Yayo and their wonderful tequilas, I know I haven't opened it yet, but this is the bottle that we dug up. This was the 2025 buried hidden treasure with the information on their website. Check it out. Google Yayo Berry treasure. Maybe you can go find 2024. This is the 2025. I believe this is a Rosa in here as well. This will get cracked and tasted pretty soon. There's a video about how we found it. Check it out. There's also a great video with John and Sergio talking about them making this tequila and the other tequilas that they make. Tequila is now available in Indiana thanks to Lux Bev. So if you've tried this one, drop it in the comments below. I want to hear what you picked up in your glass. And if you haven't tried it yet, trust me, find a bottle before it disappears. This is a limited release. Salute. Cheers. Have a great night.
