Show Notes

Today on Tasting Tequila with Brad, I’m reviewing Casa Mate Organic Tequila, one of the most sustainable, additive-free, and clean tequilas I’ve ever tried. Crafted at NOM 1577 in Tequila, Jalisco, Casa Mate Organic Tequila sets a new bar for what “clean tequila” really means. This organic tequila, sustainable tequila, and additive-free tequila is made with zero pesticides, zero chemicals, and zero waste — just pure agave, steam, and sunshine.

Founders Francisco González and Oscar Madrid created Casa Mate to prove that great tequila can also care for the planet. Their volcanic stone ovens use steam vapor (zero emissions), and the distillery runs on gravity — no pumps, no shortcuts. Even the bottles are hand-blown from recycled glass, with agave-fiber labels and aluminum caps.

In this Casa Mate Tequila review, I break down the aroma, taste, and finish — expect bright roasted agave, citrus, white pepper, and a silky clean mouthfeel that makes it perfect for sipping.

[00:00:00] Hey, welcome back to Tasting Tequila with Brad. Today we're going to dive into a tequila that changes what it means to drink clean. Casamate organic tequilas from Nom 1577 in Tequila Jalisco. This isn't just additive free. It's certified organic by USDA Bio Agricert and the European Commission. Casamate isn't only focused on flavor. It's on a mission to protect the land, the agave, and the people behind every bottle. Casamate was created by Francisco Gonzalez and Oscar Madrid, two friends from Guadalajara whose family had deep roots in agave form. [00:00:33] Their vision, make an honest, transparent tequila that reflects both tradition and environmental responsibility. [00:00:40] Francesco said it best. We want the best for our consumers and we all want the best for the environment. Let's take care of it. We can disrupt the industry for good. They built Casamate around sustainability. From pesticide free fields to fair trade labor, everything about this tequila respects the planet and honors the people who create it. Here's where Casamate really sets itself apart. These agaves are grown seven years in clean chemical free soil, cooked in volcanic stone ovens with steam vapor. Zero emissions. Gravity fed distillery located downhill. Its juice naturally flows from each stage without any electric pumps. Leftover waste. None. Leftover agave fibers become the labels on the bottles packaging. Hand blown bottles made from 100% recycled glass aluminum caps. And they're part of the 1% for the planet, donating profits to environmental causes. They even reprocess all of the wastewater to eliminate it from environmental runoff. Something that most brands just ignore. I have visited this distillery and it was pretty interesting to see how they put this together and impressive about how it runs all downhill through gravity. It's a very awesome distillery to visit. All right, now let's pour a bottle. Let's see if all that eco integrity shows up in the flavor. It's crazy to say, but this has a really clean cooked agave. A little bit of sweet citrus peel, a touch of mint. And it's a little bit earthy. Kind of like that. That smell of the soil after the rain. I do like the nose. That cooked agave smells really nice. It's a real full body on the palate. You get a bright roasted agave, I get some honey, some hints of white pepper, just a touch of vanilla as a really soft and creamy mouth feel. And I, I don't pick up anything in here that would tell me that it's fake. Let's do another taste. The pepper kicked up in the second one and the honey was a little more prominent. As well with just a little bit of orange zest. There's a lot of minerality as well and a touch of a vegetable note that I picked up in the second taste. The finish, it's crisp, it's dry, it's refreshing. I get that minerality and a little bit of a herbal bite, but the lingering agave sweetness just really tells me that this thing is made the right way. This one kind of proves that clean doesn't have to be boring. It's vibrant, it's balanced, and it's clearly meant for sipping, not shooting. This is a Good Tequila Casamate isn't just making tequila. They're setting a new standard for how tequila should be made from farm to bottle. Every choice they've made to reduce waste protects the environment. This distillery is also located in the town where Hinta Buena has done so much work to bring sustainable water to families in that neighborhood. It's good to see the distillery is taking all of this to heart and making Tequila the right way. So if you're looking for something pure, sustainable, packaged with flavor, for sure, give Casamate Organic Tequila a try. If you enjoyed this review, hit the like button and subscribe.
