[00:00:00] Hey everybody. Today I'm going to review a tequila that means a lot to me because it's a brand that really comes from the brand that originally brought me to tequila and the Tequila I first fell in love with. It's created by two guys, one of them being Sammy Hagar and the other one being Guy Fieri. Sammy Hagar really brought me to tequila with the ceramic bottle of Cabo Wabo and then it became the blue bottle, Cabo Wabo. And then it became no good for for me. And Sammy went back to his roots in making Santofino. So let's review the Anejo today. If you've watched my videos before, thanks for coming back to tasting Tequila, Brad. If you love honest reviews, interviews with brand owners, and real agave forward education, hit that subscribe button. And if you followed my journey, you'll know this brand is truly special to me. As you see, I got two bottles here. I just poured the last pour of this Santofino and I was actually at Total Wine today. So I went ahead and grabbed a refill. Going to need it. This tequila traces back to Sammy Hagar. Yep, the red rocker himself. The guy who pretty much kickstarted the premium tequila movement here in the US before celebrity tequilas were everywhere. Sammy created Cabo Wabble. And look, you could say what you want about celebrity brands today, but Cabo Waba opened the door to a lot of people, including me. Cabo Wabo literally was one of the first tequilas that I fell in love with. It was the gateway. It made me curious, it made me want to learn. And if that bottle never found me, who knows? I might still be sitting around sipping bourbon today. Fast forward a bit. Sammy teams up with Guy Fieri, another personality who's loud, fun, and full of energy. And they launched this new tequila together. And what I respect is this, even with all the entertainment, the heart of this brand is still is what's sitting in the glass. It's not over engineered. It's not trying to be something it's not. It's straightforward, enjoyable tequila that a lot of people started their journey with. So when I open this bottle and pour this in my glass, it always takes me back home to the original tequila. Let's jump into this anejo on the nose. First off, I get cooked agave right up front. Then you pick up some vanilla, some caramel. I can get that barrel note, that musty oaky barrel note. I pick up some butterscotch and I pick up a little bit of butter. It's not A super complex nose, but it's a really good nose. It's warm, it's sweet. It's kind of like dessert. It doesn't have, like, an overy, sugary smell. You can just pick up those light caramels and vanilla. This one is really good. Honestly, this is a little deja vu to the brown bottle of Cobblebabo. Let's jump into the palate. It's cooked agave. It's black pepper. It's butterscotch and caramel. A little bit of oak. I get like, some really light barrel notes. I get a little bit of honey and some vanilla sweetness. Again, it's not an overly complicated on Yeho. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's easy, it's smooth, it's straightforward. And sometimes, you know, this is exactly what I want. Compared to the blanco and reposado from the same line, I think it's balanced a little better in the anejo, the agave meeting the barrel in the middle. It is just really easy to drink with some really nice flavors. The finish, it's a little on the dry side. You get that agave sweetness. The pepper comes in the back. It leaves you with a little caramel and vanilla note. It's a nice sipper. Let's have another one. All right, so here's the truth. Is this the most complex anejo on the market? No, but it's enjoyable. It's absolutely enjoyable. It's one of these bottles that you can hand someone who's newer to tequila and they'll get it right away. For me, it carries a lot of nostalgia because of, you know, this guy right here. But there's a lot of roots to this brand that make this tequila really great to me, but also can enhance somebody else's tequila journey. People get pulled in by the celebrity ness of a tequila. Well, this is a good one to do that. The bottles are also really amazing to me. It's hard to throw these. These bottles away. It really is. I've got a couple that have been turned into candles. If you enjoyed this review, hit that, like button. Subscribe. Drop a comment. Tell me what got you into tequila. And if you want deeper dives with interviews and people behind the brands, check out my other videos. I got some amazing ones lined up in the future, and I would love to get the man himself on the show. Thanks for watching. Have a great night.
