Música Techno Plata Reserva High Proof Review | Can Music Change Tequila?

[00:00:00] One of the things I really enjoy about Tequila is when a brand has a story that's actually authentic. There are a lot of companies that come up with marketing ideas. But every once in a while I find a brand where there are people behind it are genuinely passionate about something outside of tequila. And that's exactly how I feel about Musica Tequila had the opportunity to interview Chris, the owner of Musica. And after spending time with him, I came away with a real appreciation for what they're trying to accomplish. This is not just another brand or tequila that's looking to take up some space on your shelf. Music is a huge part of what they are. And as a musician myself, I really connect with that. I think it's pretty cool to see two passions like music and tequila come together in a bottle and an amazing bottle like this one. Chris, as an engineer came up with this bottle that they told him it would never work. And here it is. Today we're going to dive into the Musica techno Plata Reserva. This is a limited release with only about 600 bottles produced. If you miss their blues of Reserva on Yeho, you missed something special because that thing was really good. This one starts with 100% blue ever agave from the valley of Jalisco. It's produced at nom 1598. It's agaves are cooked in a low pressure autoclave and extracted with a roller mill, fermented in open air stainless steel tanks using wild native yeast. And this one is double distilled. And one thing that's a little different about this bottle is it's also called Plata Reserva because it spends a short amount of time in Hungarian oak barrels. Not enough to make it a reposado, just enough to add a little texture and complexity while still leaving the agave front and center. And you need to know another thing that's cool about this. You've heard of distilleries playing classical music while it's in fermentation? Well, this one they played techno music. So let's, let's dive into it and see if it actually changes the tequila. Personally, I think the fun part of the brand story is utilizing the music in their fermentation. A lot of brands do this, but I like that they're using different kinds of music brands that they support and the type of music that they like to get behind and use that in making special bottles. So this is pretty cool. Let's, let's dive into this one. This reserve is bottled at 43% ABV. So that little bump in proof should give us a little bump in agave. So let's dive in. Right. I love the cook da Gavi. I love the fact that there's a little bit of a minty note. It's a nice minerality. And I get a little something tropical. [00:02:03] I want to say either banana or mango. Okay, let's dive into the taste. Let's cook the agave. There's a lot tropical fruit notes. I'm going to say that that is a pineapple with some minerality. It's not hot. I figured it'd be hotter than what it was. I did let it open up a little bit from when I first got the bottle. Has a nice tropical fruit, nice cooked agave. There's even a really nice minerality there. And I want to say, like a vegetable note going into the finish, it kind of heats up a little bit. Not like a pe heat, but like I said on one not too long ago, it's almost like a. A vegetable heat, like a jalapeno that you get like this nice little feel on your tongue, and then it just kind of gets hotter and hotter and hotter. So this is a really, really good, solid tequila. Beautiful bottle. Great story. One of the fantastic things they do is they give back to the music, the Caris foundation from every bottle. They're not just talking about music and they're not just making tequila. They're putting their money where their mouth is, and they're helping a lot of schools and a lot of bands and really supporting a lot of people. So definitely check this brand out.
