Cascahuin Single Barrel Reposado Review | Is This Private Barrel Pick Worth Hunting?

What if the best tequila you'll ever taste is one you'll never be able to buy again?

In today's review, I'm tasting an exclusive **Cascahuin Single Barrel Reposado**, specially selected by **High Spirits in Evansville, Indiana**. This private barrel selection was aged for **10 months in American Oak**, bottled at **47% ABV**, and represents everything that makes single barrel tequila so exciting.

No two barrels are ever exactly alike. The same tequila can develop completely different aromas, flavors, texture, and finish depending on the individual barrel, warehouse conditions, and aging process. Once a single barrel sells out... it's gone forever.

In this review I'll cover:

Production & Aging Details

Aroma Breakdown

Flavor Notes

Mouthfeel & Finish

Is the higher 47% ABV the perfect proof?

Is this barrel selection worth hunting down?

[00:00:00] What if I told you one of the best tequilas you'll ever drink may be one you never get a chance to buy again? That's the beauty and the heartbreak of single barrel picks. Every barrel is unique and once it's gone, it's gone forever. And if you've ever passed on a great single barrel, thinking I'll grab one later, you've probably already learned that lesson the hard way. Today I'm going to taste this private barrel selection of cascoine reposado that's been picked by my friend Such who owns the High Spirits in Evansville, Indiana. Multiple stores. They're phenomenal. If you're looking for great tequila or great spirits in general, check out High Spirits down there. This one is aged for 10 months in American oak barrels. It's bottled at 47 ABV. And this one is bottle 223. [00:00:38] So the question is, did they pick an incredible barrel or is it just another repsodom? Let's find out if you've watched this channel for a while. You know, I love single barrels because no two are exactly alike. Tequila starts out the same, but the barrel ages it differently depending on the wood, the warehouse, where it's at, the amount of time. All of those things are going to change how that tequila responds to the barrel. And I'm excited about trying this one. This is a fresh pop. I'm going to put it in my glass than glass because this one really elevates the aromas of aged tequilas. And this is fresh pop. So we're going to dig into this one. Now, one thing that's kind of cool is when I was down in El Areel where cascoine is at, we visited cascoine and I got the opportunity to taste this before it went into the bottle and I was like, that's pretty good. So let's see how that matches up to today. And I'm going to pour it so you can take a look at the color and that label. [00:01:30] Yeah, that's a nice looking reposado. I love the fact that it's at 47 ABV. I'm sure we're gonna get the normal awesome Cascaween. So let's, let's dive into this one. I'm telling you, cascoine signature right there. The coke de Gabe, the minerality, the wet stone followed by this vanilla caramel, some citrus peel. Smells like a little black pepper. That oak definitely is there, but it's not overpowering the agave and there's a little grassiness in There too. Man, I love it. So let's dive into the taste of this one. Wow. The cooked agave just really there. The sweetness is there. Then you start to get that vanilla, a little bit of that caramel. I'm getting a little bit of cinnamon and really oakiness. But the really nice thing is, is the cooked agave and the cascawine minerality, they are just right there, front and center. So the barrel is just really helping those. I like the fact that it's 47 ABV. I think that's what's pushing that agave and that minerality a little bit higher up in this. Because as dark as it is, the barrel exposure that it had really could have covered up that tequila. So having it at this higher abv, you know, they just nailed it. Finish is N size too. It starts to get a little more fruity in the finish with that minerality and that coat. So this is a good one. I think such knocks it out of the park. His team of high spirits absolutely nailed this pick. The other picks they've done have also been amazing, but they haven't covered up that unmistakable cascoine taste. Listen, this is available at High Spirits at Evansville, Indiana. Cannot ship outside of the state of Indiana, so you need to find someone that's in the Evansville area that can pick this up for you. Or if you're coming to Evansville, Indiana, stop in high spirits and look for this one. Ask suits telling me you watch the video so let me know. I this is where we're going to get a little honest. What do you think about all of these different single barrels and special releases coming out? Personally, I love them. They're something that gives me additional fun flavors within the tequila world. And I think sometimes if I'm just drinking my normal blanco or my normal repo or anejo, I do love those. But sometimes I like something a little different, something that's going to spice it up a little bit. I think this is it. So I want to know from you what's your thought on single barrel projects and special releases that we're seeing in the marketplace. So put it in the comments, let me know what your thoughts are. If you've had this cascoine single barrel, put that in the comments too. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks for watching. Sip responsibly, have some great tequila and maybe tonight get yourself a little caskin. Cheers.
