Blind Tasting 5 Tequilas from NOM 1414 – Can I Guess Them All? In this episode of Tasting Tequila with Brad, I blind taste 5 blanco tequilas — all from the legendary NOM 1414. Same distillery… but do they taste the same? Can I actually guess which is which based on flavor, aroma, and texture alone?

Featured tequilas:

• Siempre Tequila

• Tau Blanco

• Alma del Jaguar

• Yéyo Tequila

• Lost Lore Blanco

This video explores how production style, barrels, and branding influence what’s in the bottle — even when the NOM is identical. Think you could tell them apart?

[00:00:00] So this video is going to be a roller coaster of taste, all coming from one nom. I'm 1414. So what I did was I poured yayo towel, almadara, jaguar la slor, and a siem fray blanco. Those are all been poured in these glasses, and on the bottom of the glass is a letter to tell me which one is which when I turn them over. Now, my goal here isn't to say I like one of them better than the other, because all of these are sippers to me. Every one of these are fantastically made tequilas by Sergio Cruz. Just three simple things. Agave, yeast, and water. And each one does have a significantly different taste profile than the other. And I wanted to see if I can nose and taste through these five different nom. 14. 14 tequilas and try to guess which one is which. So we'll have to see if I can pick out the profiles of these and line them up for you. So let's go. Let's start with the nose. I want to nose through each one of them first. [00:01:13] Okay. What is really amazing is each one of these noses through are extremely similar to each other, yet they are different. Each one had a little bit different nose to it. [00:01:27] That one has a lot more minerals than what some of the other ones had. [00:01:32] That one seems to be a little fruitier. [00:01:35] This one's nose is just a lot lighter than the other two. That one seems to be cleaner or brighter. That one seems to have some cinnamon in it, at least in the nose. So far, no fricking clue. So. So let's taste the first one. Nice cooked agave. I like the finish. A whole plethora of flavors. I'm going to hold my finger over the bottom of it so when I tip the glass up, I can't see what it is. [00:02:00] Little more citrus than that one and a little bit warmer and a little bit longer finish. [00:02:08] I probably need to have a little mineral, keep those from getting all that one. It has the equal sweetness, and it has a little bit more of a citrus in the finish. [00:02:19] That one's minty, has a lot of minerals in it and a little bit of. A little bit of wet earth in that one. [00:02:26] Okay. I got to tell you, I thought this was going to be easier because a couple of these I drink a lot. I drink a lot of siempre, and I drink a lot of lost lore. There are two that I go to, and I thought for sure I'd be able to pull those two out of this and go, this one is siempre and this one is lost lore, but honestly, I have no clue. [00:02:45] I'm going to try this middle one again. [00:02:48] Based on the finish, I think this one is lost lore. Basing that on the finish, I recognize something in that finish that makes me think that one's lost lore. [00:02:58] I keep looking over here because I have the bottles sitting there and nothing written on them, as you can see. There's no. No tricks. Don't even know if I have lost lore even. Correct. [00:03:08] Okay. That time in this one, I picked up a little pine. And I always say that when I have tau more so in the high proof that they pick up like a juniper or a Christmas tree type pine flavor. And I got it that time. I'm gonna just stop on that one and say that one is definitely tao prob. I'm probably dead wrong, but it's. It's worth a shot. [00:03:29] These two. These two are very similar. [00:03:33] This one's a little. A little warmer in the finish. A little different in the finish that I think now I'm going to recognize potentially SCM frame. So that leaves me the last two. [00:03:46] And honestly, I don't. I don't know the difference there. [00:03:50] I'm going to say this one's yayo and that one's alma. So there's a little more citrusy in this one, and that's kind of what gives me the alma, the jaguar taste. So here's the first one I say is almador agua. And we're going to look at the bottom, and that says jag, if you can see it. So I actually got that one right. So we'll pour that back in here. And the next one, big reveal. This one says, hey, yo. [00:04:26] So I got that one wrong. I got the yayo wrong. That one was yayo. So let's pour that yayo back in there because I'm gonna go back and taste them now that I know I'll have it right and I can see what it tastes like. So this one, I'm going to dump it in there and see what it is. It is tau. So that one is the tau. So I. I guess I picked up that pine in the yayo, and that pine is what made me think that it was a towel. So let's check this one out. [00:04:58] This one has no sticker on the bottom. The sticker fell off. It's stuck to the table, and it has an S. So there's an S on that one. So I got the siempre right, and that means the one that I was sure I had right I held up the wrong thing. What is wrong with me? The one that I was sure that I had correct has to be lost lore. [00:05:24] Two L's lost lore. Hey, two out of three out of five ain't bad. This is a really fun experiment. [00:05:32] It's pretty interesting how when you see it and you're drinking it, you get this idea of what that flavor is and you associate that flavor with the bottle. But when you throw them in a glass and you try to go figure out which one is which by tasting them and trying to remember what profile flavor goes with what tequila, that's it's pretty fun. It makes your brain really work. I don't know if it's good a video to watch, but that was pretty cool. The lost lore is very specific to me. Like I said, I drink it often. [00:06:02] Is a brand new bottle of Siempre just cracked today? I. I go through this one the most. It's the easiest one for me to get. I can buy it right here in Indiana. I got it today, so I opened it today. I have drank it before and I drank the the high proof quite often so I thought I was recognizing some flavors out of this one. Alma Haguire. I haven't had it in a while. It's one again that's hard for me to get in Indiana. So I haven't ripped through this bottle very often. So I drink more of the nocturna when I do. So this one didn't really have a flavor that sticks with me. And the yayo. I don't drink a lot of the blanco. I mostly drink their repo, their soul. And I love the high proof. So that one tricked me with Tao. So I hope that was interesting. Drop in the comments if you have ever done something like this before, if you thought this is interesting and if I should do it with another nom. And let's say thanks to Sergio, Cruz and Arturo and and Alex and Martine and Macaulay and John for all making some of my absolute top go to tequilas. So I hope you liked it. Comment like share all of those wonderful things. Thanks for watching. Have a great night.
