[00:00:00] You know, some people out there really complain about all of the single barrels and special releases that come out. And I will say it does get difficult to follow all of them. But if you want to find out about some great ones like this Jay and Matty La Puga single barrel that came out not too long ago. You want to follow the tequila
[email protected] 63, 000 people get it in their email, why don't you? It's free tequila report.com subscribe, go check it out. And today what we're going to do is, is we're going to blind taste a couple of single barrels against their normal tequila. I've got the, the Lapuga still, Austin. And we're going to put it up against the regular Lauga repo. You know, we're, we're talking about the single barrel releases and are they better than the regulars. And we're going to talk about one of my favorite lost lore high proof repo. And we're going to go up against the special release FTR repo. And is this special single barrel release worth it? Now, I did put them in the old solo blind. You'll notice I have gold ones and I have clear ones. The gold ones, they are La Puga. The clear ones, they are lost lore. The reason I did that was the lost lore colors were so close that I wasn't afraid of detecting it via color where the lapuga one is a little darker than the other. The goal here isn't to say which tequila is better because freaking love both of these. And the only reason I'm wearing the lost lore shirt during this video is because I don't have a lagoon. So they won right on the shirt side of it. So what we're looking to see is, is the single barrel better than the regular repo? And of course, now that I put them in here, I have no idea which one is which. And let's start with la, since I'm wearing the lost lore shirt. So great cooked agave. Do them side by side here.
[00:01:47] Hmm. This one has got a little more flavor to it on the nose. Well, maybe not great cooked agave, which is similar, some different notes, different barrel notes. The one I'm getting off of this one. Okay, let's taste them both and see. Mmm. So good. Okay, this one is just richer, it's more complex, it has more flavors to it. So I, I truly don't know, but I like the complexity of that. Over this. I like this. This, this is a great tasting reposado. So let's see, which one is this? This one is repo and this one is still Austin. So here's a case where this repo is a great tasting reposado. It's one that I would drink all the time. But this one brings a different complexity than the normal repo. So was it worth going out and finding this bottle right here to taste something different than Lauga's regular? Yes, this one shines. The regular repo is fantastic. But here's something with a little additional flavor. What I like about single barrels and what a friend of mine, a master distiller, Renee Carranza, told me, when you're picking a single barrel, you're picking something special. It has to be a disruptor. It can't be the same thing that you're normally going to taste in the repo. It has to be different. And that's why these single barrels are special. So now let's do the same thing with the Lost ls. Wow. They're very close. I'm going to call it this is FTR is regular repo. Wow. See, in this case I got it wrong. So that one is lost lore and this one is ftr. So in this case, just go get the regular high proof. Although I will say the FTR has been one that I've been really excited about. I've polished off a couple bottles.
[00:03:24] This one is just more minerality, more of the footprint of regular lost lore. What I picked up different in this as I go back to it is this does have a little bit different oak note to it, which is probably that mesnera and the minerality here I I like better. So what I told somebody earlier that I think I like FTR better. In this case I'm going to say I like the Lost lore regular high proof better. But the FTR given some money back, some great programs and it is a solid, solid tequila. So there you go. Is single barrels worth it? I want to hear your information in the comments because there's a lot of single barrels. Some people are upset about them, some people are excited about them. I like them, I chase them, I buy them, I don't collect them, I drink them. So tell me what your thoughts are about the market of single barrels and do you think these special releases are worth it? It's up to you. It's really your own personal thought behind it. I seem to really like them. So cheers. Thanks for watching this video. Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are on single barrels. Have a great night.
