TRUTH About Tequila Awards! Do They Really Matter in 2025?

[00:00:00] Spirit Awards and do they matter? I get this question all the time from friends of mine that when I'm on the Internet and I I see these awards next to the tequila bottles, does it really mean it's great tequila? And in the past I've always said I don't think so. I really don't know how they do a lot of those other contests. But I do know a lot of times the brands that win aren't brands that I like or aren't the traditional brands that I like to drink. And until now, the new Agavos Awards is the only one that has really highlighted a lot of the standard traditional small brands that I enjoy. So maybe the Agavos Awards are where it's at. Let's talk about what the Agavos Awards are. It's a new competition and their first one was in early 2025. Their goal was to aim for some transparency throughout the award program. They also wanted a lot of fairness. So in that it was blind tasted by several judges that are one bartenders, Tequil, tequila aficionados and some of them were content creators and influencers, people that drink a lot of tequila and have a great palette. Everything was judged on a 100 point scale and it had to do with taste, aroma and viscosity and I believe value. There was a separate competition that had to do with marketing and presentation of the bottle which is kind of cool. It is part of tequila and what we look at and we love those good looking bottles. The awards given out were double gold, gold and silver. They got a really cool 12 inch tall ST award that is made by the same company that makes the Emmys and the Golden Globes company called society awards. Over 250 awards were handed out. 76 of them double gold, 42 of them gold and 94 of them are silvers. When you look at the brands that are involved, a lot of the small brands that we talk about on a lot of the different programs and Instagram and different content creators talk about all the time, the good traditional bean brands, those are the ones that we like. So let's pour best in show this year, which is a real surprise to a lot of people. This is a phenomenal tequila trujillo 56 manifesto Best in show winner. So do Agave awards matter or do Tequila awards matter some? I'm going to say no. But if you want to find someplace that's giving awards that is very transparent, check out the Agavos Awards. They have a great website. You can look at all the finishers and then you can find the tequilas that were listed on there. I have to say I've had many of the tequilas that were on the list and several of them are in my top go tos and there are several on the list I haven't had that. Now I'm on the hunt for.
