[00:00:00] This might be one of the most underrated high proof tequilas on the market. I've heard so many people tell me I have to have this one, and I've never been able to find it in the wild. And last weekend at High Spirits in Evansville, Indiana, I found it. This is Suerte still strength Blanco, coming in at 104 proof, 52 ABV. And if you're into high proof tequilas, I've been told this is one that deserves your attention. Look, we're talking to crushed, slow roasted, additive free, built for people who actually want the taste of agave. This is produced at Nom 1530 in Jalisco, the town of Tataniko in the highlands. And what makes this bottle stand out is the commitment to traditional methods. They're using a tohona stone to crush the agave, which is huge because this process pulls out more fiber, more depth, and more earthy agave character. The agave itself is slow roasted for about 52 hours, which helps develop those deep cooked agave sugars before fermentation. And this is still strength, meaning bottled close to distillation proof. So you're getting this tequila raw and uncut form, no dilution, no shortcuts, just agave. All right, this is a fresh pop, fresh pour. I love this brand, but I've never had this one and I am looking forward to it. Let's get it in the glass.
[00:01:22] I've got to say, I really dig this bottle. I like how they went to this dark, crazy antlers on the bunny program. I think it's really, really cool. So let's hope the tequila is as good as the label on the nose. The first thing I get that jumps right out of the glass is big time cooked agave. But it's followed by what I always get in Suerte tequilas. It smells like just freshly cut wet grass.
[00:01:47] There's a little bit of a citrus zest and a real minty freshness. And this is something that I get in all of their tequilas, but this one, because it's a high proof, it's just popped up a notch, you know, and there's also, like a green pepper note and a touch of nice minerality. It's almost an earthy type aroma common of highland tequilas. All right, let's take a taste of this one. Wow. Now that 104 proof really shows up. But in a good way. It's rich, it's really full, full body, it's oily with a lot of viscosity, and it's packed with flavors, I get this really great intense cooked agave up front and then it kind of moves into a citrus white pepper and that grassy note like that just grass. I love it. It's the same as in the nose as it is in the taste. I do pick up a little bit of a mintiness with a nice minerality. And you know, it drinks hot. It's 104, but really it doesn't drink as hot as what I was expecting or what some other still strengths I've had really do. The finish, it's long, it's warm, it just kind of hangs on. You get that pepper, that citrus, that cooked agave sweetness. It just kind of hangs on your palate. It really gets you in the back of the mouth. It's nice. I really enjoy this one. Now. I don't know how many bottles of this were actually made. I read one place that there were only 1500 bottles out there. I read another one that it said it was limited release and I've read that it's out there all over the place. So I really can't tell you. But if it is limited and you see it, pick it up. I will say this, I've been looking for it for a couple of years and never found it in a store. So I was very excited to find it at such a store at high spirits.
[00:03:22] I wish I would have had this when I did my still strength challenges in the blinds because I think this would stand up to G4108 Fortaleza, still strength, even Cascane's number 10, which is one of my favorites. So this belongs in the conversation. Let me know if you are drinking high proof tequila and if you would drink this one, let me know if you've had it before. Put it in your comments what the thoughts are of this one. If you want more honest tequila views like this, make sure you hit, follow like and subscribe. And if you have a tequila that I haven't reviewed and you'd like to see it done, put it in the comments and like always sip responsibly. Cheers.
