[00:00:00] I've got four Agavos gold medal winning Anejos in front of me. Three of them I've had before, one of them I've never tasted. It was a fresh pop tonight. And here's what's interesting. The one I've never had, Blue Star Anejo, it won gold right alongside these other award winners. But awards are one thing, what's in the glass is another. Let's find out if the newcomer can compete. If you know this is the solo Blind series, here's how it works. I pour all four of these tequilas in the glass. I put them inside of the solo blind. There's a little chip that marks which one is which. Once I spin them around, there's absolutely no way possible to know which one is which. So tonight we're going to have some tequilas that I'm a fan of. Authentico organic tequila. This is a great brand. And Insolido, which is definitely an awesome celebrity tequila owned by the band Midland. And then we have Peter, Kylie and Omar's Pedro Fortiva. And then this new tequila right here, Blue Star Tequila Anejo. We're gonna give this one a try.
[00:01:04] So like I said, all of these did win gold in the Agavos Awards. Now, keep in mind, when the Agavos Awards are being done, they're all blind as well. So nobody knows really what they're tasting or what it is. You don't have the brand you know in front of you to kind of tell you, you already know you like this brand or you don't, you know, whatever. This one doing it blind always gives you this new thought process. All right, so we got those all out here. Let's go ahead and start with the nose. I'm going to nose through each one. I'm going to rate what that nose is, which one I like on the nose the best, then I'm going to taste them. Then I'm going to take the nose and the taste and tell you which one I think is the best one. So let's start here. Nice cooked agave. Gotten some nice barrel notes.
[00:01:45] Pretty good so far. Let's dive into this next one. Little lighter on the nose. Get some cooked agave, maybe a little touch of citrus. So it's got a nicer nose than this one so far.
[00:01:56] This one's maybe a little more floral. Nice cooked agave, a little bit of minerality, a little bit of a barrel note. I'm going to say this one has a little bit nicer nose than that one.
[00:02:06] A little bit Lighter on the nose, even a little caramel, little musty barrel smell. So I'm going to say so number one, number two, number three, and number four when we go with the nose. So let's go ahead and dive into the taste of these. Nice sweetness, nice cooked agave, a little bit of citrus, a nice little barrel note, little oaky wood. I like the nose a little better this time. More of a watery mouth feel. This one has a nicer mouthfeel. Still has some nice coked agave. A little bit of a sweetness, little citrus, little orange, little minerality, lighter mouthfeel. But gosh, I like the taste of both of those. So let's dive into number two. More barrel in that one. Definitely a little more oaky, a little more sweet. Finish is a little peppery. I still like this nose the best. Damn, this is hard. This one has the best nose. But I'm going to say I think I like the flavor of this one the best. This one's richer. More barrel, a little more agave.
[00:02:57] Okay, I'm going to say second, third, and fourth. So first, second, third and fourth. So let's start with fourth.
[00:03:06] Holy cow. It's Pedro Fortiva. But I never guess that. Pedro Fortiva is always one of my favorite of these brands, that these old. These new brands that came out for Pedro Fortiva is always one of my favorite ones. Blue Star.
[00:03:19] Blue Star is number three.
[00:03:21] Number two, Authentico is so good. Number one, insolido. There you go. Now look, these are four great tequilas. I have to say, doing them in a blind. I really like all four of them. If you're going to look at the Agavos awards and try to figure out are these tequilas that I'm going to try, I'm going to say you definitely should. The people that are in the Agabos awards are some of the best tequila tasters out there. And they're all done blind, so there's absolutely no bias.
