[00:00:00] Do you ever buy a bottle and tell yourself that you're going to save it, yet you can't wait to crack it open and try it? That's this one right here. Cuento Corto from Manuscrito. I find myself wanting to open this ever since it showed up. So we're going to do it tonight. Jake was just here at my house. We got to sit down at this bar and drink a little bit and talk about Manuscript though, and their journey. There's a couple of stories where we've done interviews with Jake and and talked about their rise in creating Manuscript. You gotta go check it out. Let's talk about what this one means. It's cuento corta, which means short story.
[00:00:36] So when you look at their tequilas, you have a chapter one, a chapter two, a chapter three and a chapter four. And each one of those is a little different tequila from a blanco to a high proof to a high proof reposado to normal reposado. Their labels all have a meaning to it. So this one isn't one of the chapters because it's a special release. Now this is a blanco, not a reposado. So it's not fully aged more than 60 days. But this does say a brief amount of time in American oak, specifically Four Roses bourbon barrels. Not long enough to add the depth of the barrel flavor or cover up the agave. It's just part of how to make a balanced tequila. This tequila is made at Nam 1643. That's El Sabino. It's a distillery in Jesus Maria Jalisco, the master distiller of this tequila, dear friend, Oscar Vasquez Camarana. He's the one behind making this flavor so awesome. They're using single estate blue Weber agave, all grown to full maturity, cooked in stone ovens, fermented in open air with fibers and double distilled. That open air fermentation with fibers, that's the part that gives this tequila its extra texture and extra structure. Then they went and bottled it. 100 proof. Let's get this in the glass. Foreign.
[00:02:03] This is going to take a minute to open up. That was a fresh pop, fresh crack. We just put it in here. So I want to savor these noses a little bit as it changes right off the bat, big time. Cooked agave, baking, spices, cinnamon. There's even a little bit of like a fruity, I'm going to say pear. It's minty. And there's a really nice, like earthy note there. I love that hint of cinnamon in There with the cooked agave. This is one of those that I guarantee if I let it sit here for 30 minutes, it's going to smell even different when I come back into it. Okay, let's take a taste. Wow. Nice cooked agave. You get that heat for sure. At 100 proof. It's got a really nice mouthfeel that can completely coats your mouth. And I will say that normally with Manuscript though, I get a very full floral and fruity taste when I first dive into it. And the same with the nose. The nose is. This is different than the other manuscriptos and so is that taste that cooked agave kind of transitions into like a cinnamon and then that pear note that I got and then a slight vegetable note that like tones it all down from that fruity floral that I get with the normal manuscrito or the manuscript high proof blanco. I gotta say, the finish is where this makes all the sense. It's long, it's layered, it's spicy, it's cooked agave and it's just like sweet agave, just kind of fading. This is one of those tequilas, when you take a sip of it, it tastes one way and you take your second sip and it tastes a little different. And this resting for 20 minutes is going to taste even different. Now. I hope you got this one. It's a very limited run. There's only 1100 bottles. So it isn't a massive production release. It's part of their Cuento Cuarto series. It's a project that just sits outside of their normal lineup. And this experiment was done with intention. Like everything Oscar and the guys from Manuscripto do, they're not trying to be a reposado, it's trying to stay a blanco. They're. They're trying to live in that middle with some barrel influence in a blanco on purpose. For someone who really loves an agave forward blanco, but occasionally wants a little bit of barrel nuance to loosen up the freshness and really make it hit like that sweet spot. This one seems like that does that to me. I'm going to sip on this for the rest of the evening. And if you like a high proof tequila because you like agave flavor, this one delivers big time. Now this isn't a mixer for me. This is a sit down, pay attention and sip on it. And for me, it's one of those bottles that earns a great spot on my shelf. It's one that I will come back to on a regular basis. But it's something that I'm not going to hit and drink all the time because I don't want it to go away. Remember this tequila here? It's just a short story, but it does leave a pretty long impression and I am impressed with the flavor of this one. If you've had this manuscript though, let me know what you think of it. I know the people that I've seen you have had it. Absolutely love it. Tell me what you think of the brand manuscript though. If you like these videos, like share, comment, all that stuff. I really appreciate people watching the videos and commenting. And hey, remember what I always say, drink what you like, but know what you're drinking. Cheers. Have a great night.
