[00:00:00] 30 months in bourbon barrels. This anejo, it shocked me. And if you're additive free tequila lover, this one might jump straight into your buy list. What's up everybody? I am back and I'm excited about diving into Cardena's Legacy Anejo tequila produced at NOM 1468. But there's news coming and changes happening and these little bottles here in front, I just recently got to taste. So this is the new 5055 ABV high proof that's going to be coming out for Cardena's Legacy Tequila. And this one is their brand new batch. That was their new Blanco at 40%. And I gotta tell you, these blew me away. Chris flew into town a couple weeks ago, was in Indianapolis, we got to sit here and he brought this bottle of anejo for me to try to share. And just a couple of days ago he was back in town. So we went to dinner, we took this on Yeho and he brought these samples for us to try. And I got to tell you guys, there's some great things happening with this brand and some great things to be announced in the future. Now let's dive into this anejo that they have. So this bottle is actually getting a lot of praise by a ton of people in the tequila community. I feel like to me it's a little bit of a hidden gem. 30 months in American bourbon barrels and the best way to find out if all of the hype about the tequila is real is, is to pour a glass and jump right in. So let's do it. All right. Cardena's legacy tequila, it's rooted in a powerful family heritage. The family heritage that we have with this brand is a family of United States veterans that have fought for our country, from Chris's father to Chris and now Chris's daughter who's currently in the Coast Guard. So when you've got some veterans that really stand up for our country, they really know how to stand behind a brand. And Cardenas the the name is here to honor the present and the past. The tequila itself is crafted in Orandas in los Altos using 100% Blue Ever Agave grown in the southern highlands of Jalisco. Stone brick ovens for cooking, roller mill for extraction, open air fermentation in deep well water, copper pot stills, and then age 30 months in American white oak bourbon barrels. And I'm telling you, this is a clean, good tequila. The master distiller, Francisco Gonzalez Jr. Is serious pedigree and they know how to make tequila. So let's Dive in. Okay. Right away on the nose, I get this. This really unique, like, candy lemon sweetness almost. Almost like what you get with a lemon drop. It's something you don't always find in an.
[00:02:26] Every once in a while, it kind of peaks in there. And I'm definitely picking it up here. There's a nice vanilla note, some oak, a little hint of funk. That actually works in a really good way. And it's got a nice earthy note to it as well. Let's dive into the taste. First sip. It's clean. It's got a little bit of an oaky bourbon influence. It doesn't overpower the agave. I get nice cooked agave. It's a nice balance. I get this citrusy sweetness. I pick up a little bit of that lemon in the taste, probably because it's in my head. So I'm. I'm getting it in the taste. I get a little bit of a grassiness, almost like a hay type grassiness. Vanilla. Nice bourbon barrel spice flavors and a touch of like a.
[00:03:08] A copper minerality. It isn't heavy or syrupy. It's really refined. And the bourbon barrel gives it a little bit of a warmth. Rounded backbone, and it keeps it from turning into like a caramel bomb. You get a little caramel, but not a lot. The texture is super clean. This is a really good ano. I'm going to do another taste here. The finish. This one really shines. The finish is bright. It's lightly warm, and it lingers. And what's lingering is these herbal notes, that grassiness, that citrus and lemon. I get a soft oak with a. A little spice and a hint of like a metallic mineral note that just. Just kind of hangs. It's fantastic. It's nothing artificial. It's just clean tequila that just kind of gently hangs on for a really long time in. In your mouth. And to me, it makes me want to take another drink. Drink Cardenas Anejo. I gotta tell you, this bottle didn't really surprise me. The repo was so good. I loved it. I knew that the anejo was just gonna add a lot more flavor. It's citrus forward. It's a balanced anejo. It's. It's one that you can sip on. This, to me, is a dessert at the end of the day. And if you haven't had it, it's absolutely worth a try. So let me know if you've had anything by Cardenas legacy yet. Drop your thoughts in the comments if you.
