This Partida Box Means More Than You Think… Today I’m unboxing Partida’s special Día de los Muertos box and reviewing Partida Añejo Tequila from NOM 1502. After visiting the distillery and interviewing Master Distiller José Valdez, I can tell you—this tequila carries real meaning, tradition, and craftsmanship. Partida’s Día de los Muertos box is filled with symbolism: Skull (Calavera): Celebration of life, death, and remembrance Pan de Muerto: The cycle of life and nourishment of memory Papel Picado: “Remember Me” — keeping memories alive Marigold (Cempasúchil): Guiding spirits home ️ Candle: Lighting the way for loved ones This box is designed to help you build your own ofrenda—and honor someone you love by sharing a pour in their memory. Partida Añejo – Production (NOM 1502): • Agave: Tequilana Weber (Tequila Valley – Los Valles) • Cooking: Low-pressure autoclaves • Extraction: Roller mill • Fermentation: Stainless steel tanks, no fibers • Distillation: Double-distilled, stainless steel pot stills • Aging: Used whiskey barrels • ABV: 40% My Tasting Notes: Nose: Toasted cinnamon bread, caramel, oak, green apple, cooked agave Taste: Brown sugar, cinnamon spice, agave sweetness, vanilla, black pepper Finish: Warm cinnamon, anise, slight “Hot Tamales” vibe This tequila is smooth, balanced, and deeply connected to the Día de los Muertos story behind the box. [00:00:01] Hey, guys. Today's video is a special one, not because we're going to get to review Partita Anejo, but because Partita sent me this beautiful Dia de los los Muertes box to celebrate one of Mexico's most meaningful traditions. Dia de los Muertes, or day of the dead. It's about honoring and remembering the lives of those who have passed. It's not a sad celebration. It's a colorful, joyful one that's filled with love. Partita created this amazing box to help share that tradition, even build our own ofreda, or altar, right here at home. You have everything you need to take part in this celebration right here in the box. First, the skull representing the joy of life, death, and remembrance. [00:00:42] And then, because they can't send us bread, in the actual box, we got a sticker of pana de morto, symbolizing the cycle of life and the nourishment of memory. [00:00:54] And then we have what is actually hanging in my barn still today, the flags that go across the top of the town. [00:01:02] Pepel picado. These decorative banners celebrate life and spirit. This one even says right here in it, remember me. Very cool. [00:01:12] Now this one, I think is pretty neat as well. Marigolds, or kimpachichil, known as the flower of the dead. Their bright color and their scent have helps lead our loved ones home. And this one is a candle. [00:01:29] It'll help guide those spirits back. The smell of this I can smell from way over here. This is really awesome. Another thing they gave is a little story about what this box all contains and the answer to those things I explained to you. And it's really cool. Pin. And we get to talk about and taste today the anejo Partita. Let me get this out of the way. Now let's talk about Partita Anejo. I actually had the chance to visit the distillery and sit down with Jose Valdez, their master distiller. He's incredibly passionate about honoring agave, creating tequila that reflects both tradition and refinement. Partita is made at Nom 1502, located in the Tequila Valley, right in the town of tequila. They use 100% Blue Weber agaves, and we got to go to the fields and work with the hemodoras to cut one out of the ground. Pretty amazing. Cooked in a low pressure autoclave, packed with a roller mill and fermented in stainless steel tanks without fibers. Both are double distilled in stainless steel pots. And the anejo is aged using whiskey barrels. It gives it a smooth, layered profile and I'll tell you, they're awesome because Tony and I got to stand in the barreling room and actually taste three different single barrel anejos. They were amazing. And if you haven't tried the single barrel New York agave Club anejo, it was awesome as well. Let's open this one up. [00:02:53] Nice pop on that one. Give it a good pour. [00:03:00] I do like a healthy pour. [00:03:03] All right, let's go on the nose. Pleasant aromas of cooked agave, toasted cinnamon, but almost like cinnamon bread. Like, I get the, the. The yeast and the cinnamon together, and it is a toasted smell, like it's caramelized. With that agave, you get oak and caramel. This one, you get a little bit of green apple. It's subtle, but you still get it there. It's pretty amazing. Let's dive into the taste. Now. This is a fresh pop, so I know this is going to change over time, but cinnamon spice, brown sugar, agave sweetness, just a hint of black pepper. There's a soft vanilla note, some caramel from the barrel, and a little bit of an earthy, like, agave flavor. So some of those minerality in there. [00:03:48] And I will say I do after smelling it a second time, after tasting, I do get a little bit of that musty barrel room note that I love so much on the finish. Get a little bit of a nice. A little bit of black pepper. One of the things I like the most is that cinnamon spice. And it warms up almost like the hot tamales candy vibe. Like the cinnamon just kind of heats in it. This is very flavorful. It's easy to sip. It's not the most complex anejo I've ever had, but it's clean, it's well made, it's definitely worth sharing. And in the spirit of dia dos los muertes. So whether you're building your own ultra at home or just raising a glass to someone you love in memory, this partita anejo. This a beautiful way to celebrate life, legacy, and the spirit of Mexico. Salud. Feliz dia de las mortes.
