[00:00:00] Today we're going to talk about a hoven and a tequila named Xolo Exquinte. That's right. What a great name. It means dog. And it's a type of dog, which is the Mexican hairless dog, which is Mexico's dog. So Xolo Esquintli. This is their hoven. This is coming in at 48 ABV. So it is a wonderful high proof. And a lot of people ask me, what is a hoven. A hoven is a blanco that has been mixed with a repo, an anejo, or an extra anejo. So I just did a brand interview with Ernesto and we talk about all the tequilas. So go check it out there. But I wanted to do a review of this hoven because to me, this is a really good hoven. So when you look at it, you'll see that there's a little bit of color there, not a lot. [00:00:49] It's not a crystal clear like a blanco, because it does have some aged tequila that's mixed with it and it's done at this higher proof, which I'm a big fan of. High proofs, low pressure autoclave, roller mill, deep well water. [00:01:04] They're doing it right. Ernesto really put his touch into this profile when he went to make this tequila. Wow. On the nose, I get some cooked agave, of course, but a little bit of bell pepper. I get a little bit of jalapeno and some vanilla with just a hint of some barrel notes. It's also very minerally and herbal and it has a teeny bit of funkiness, which I really like. On the taste, you get the sweet agave, I get a little bit of lime, some vegetal notes, a little bit of brininess, and then this nice warm finish in the back with some pepper and some cinnamon. It has a really pleasant mouthfeel. And in the finish on that second taste, that cinnamon kind of becomes a cream soda. And then it warms up on the back of your tongue to get your mouth all salivating. That's a really well balanced tequila. And you would think at a 48% ABV that you'd get some burn, right? That you'd feel it going into your stomach, but you really don't. There's. You get some heat in the mouth, so some pepper in that finish with that cinnamon and that spice and that cream soda. But there's no, like, burn where it's. It's hard to drink. And, you know, think about it. We watch people drink tequila all the time, right? They. They grab their glass. They do the shot, they make that face, they get that burn. This is so pleasant. This is just a if you chew it you bring out all these flavors. It has a really great mouth feel too. There's some really great legs on this. This is a very well made tequila. I know it comes in liters right now but it is 700. [00:02:45] That'll help the price a little bit but definitely go check out the brand interview that I have with Ernesto and listen to his story. A guy that burned all the bridges to make his tequila and to try to make his dream come true of owning his own tequila brand. It's pretty awesome. There'll be a link right here over here. Should be there right now. Just click on that. Check out a brand interview. Don't forget to like share, subscribe, all of those things to let everybody know about this channel if you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
