[00:00:00] A tequila brand just asked me to reconsider my review on Agave Matchmaker. Not because they disagreed with it and they didn't ask me to take it down. It's because they believe they've improved their own tequila. So Volkan sent me their newest blanco and asked me to revisit it on the app. So I tracked down the older batch and I thought, let's pour them both together and do a blind. And actually, if I can see which one I believe tastes better today, I put them in the old solar blind here. We label them, we spin them around so we don't know which one is which, and let's pull them out of here and set it up. All right. Volkan is made at a single knob nom nom 1523, and it is located in the Vias. They use both valley agave and highlands agave. They cook in both a high pressure autoclave and a stone oven. When it comes to crushing, they are blending roller mill product with tohona product, and then they're using open fermentation. They're using stainless steel tanks with champagne yeast. For the roller mill product, they're using wood pones with fiber fermentation Wild with the tohona product, they're then blending that together and it is twice distilled in copper pots. So that kind of gives you an idea. A couple of different processes blending together to make this tequila. Let's dive in and see which one is better. Grab this one and do the nose first. That's kind of funkiness to it. It's got a nice floral note, almost a little cheesy, and a nice cooked agave note. So let's dive into this one. Oh, this one's way funkier. This one's got almost a like a chocolate note to it. The cooked agave is a little more faint. There's a little bit less minerality. Quite honestly, the funkiness on this one kind of takes over. So I'm going to say on the nose, this one. This one is brighter. More coked agave, more minerality. The funkiness is a little different kind of funkiness. So I'm going to go for the taste on this one first because it definitely was the best nose. Coked agave is there. There's a nice citrus note to it. A little bit of cinnamon, a little bit of floral. The finish it hangs on, it's got a sweetness to it. A little coked agave in there. That citrus is a little more lime than it is orange, like it was in the flavor. I'm going to say that's pretty good. Okay, so matches nose actually. So this one is just funky. The taste is creamier, it has a better mouth feel. Little less cooked agave. All in all, flavor wise, this one's finished, is nice. It's not as long, doesn't have quite as much agave flavor to it. It doesn't have that citrus pop that this one had. So I'm going to say I like this one better. So we'll say that one's number one for me and that one is the old one. So this one is the new one. There you go. I have to say, I do like the taste of the old one better. There you go, side by side, big difference. So I also will say I like the old one's bottle better. I like the blue color to it.
[00:02:33] That just gets it a nice pop. Again, not one of my favorite tequilas. I think they're doing a good thing blending some different types of process to make the tequila. It's got a great presentation, just not one of the most outstanding ones for me. And unfortunately guys, I like the old one better side by side. So hope you like this video.
