[00:00:00] Today, we're diving into the biggest misconception in the entire tequila world. A lie that's been hiding in plain sight and completely warping how people drink, buy and think about tequila. And no, it's not a worm. It's actually something much bigger. For years, people have been taught that tequila is only for shooting. It's cheap, it's harsh, it's something you toss back as fast as possible and pray that you survive. Movies, TV shows, college bars, they've all fed this idea that tequila lives in the same category as party shots, Hangovers, questionable life decisions. And because of that, most people never even consider actually tasting tequila. The myth didn't come out of nowhere. Back in the day, tequila companies marketed this beard as a party drink. Bold, strong, fast, cheap. And that worked. But it also buried tequila's reputation under layers of misunderstandings. While brands are selling you shots, master distillers in Mexico are crafting something more complex, refined and historic. Here's the truth most people never hear. Tequila is one of the most complex spirits on the planet. Every bottle carries unique flavors, terroir and craftsmanship. And high quality tequila is meant to be sipped, not slammed. Just like whiskey or mezcal, tequila has depth. Blanco brings out pure agave, citrus, pepper, minerality, reposado layers in oak sweetness, cinnamon, honey and soft spice. And an introduces richer notes, caramel, chocolate, dried fruit and oak. A great tequila can be buttery, vibrant, floral, earthy, smoky, fruity and herbaceous. The idea that all tequilas taste the same only exists because most people have never tried good tequila and only shot the bad stuff. This lie has caused an entire generation of drinkers to completely overlook the incredible spirit. People say tequila is harsh. Tequila gives me headaches. Oh, I had a bad experience on tequila. I only can drink it in a. In a margarita. But in reality, that's usually the result of poor quality bottles. When you taste well made, traditionally produced tequila, everything changes. Additive free, slow cooked agave, copper stills, long fermentation, clean, natural. It's a world most casual drinkers never even get to explore. So let's set that record straight. Tequila is not just a shot. Tequila is not just a party drink. Tequila is not just a get drunk fast spirit. Tequila is layered. It's nuanced. It has culture, deep ancestral roots, meant to be savored like a fine whiskey or like a fine scotch or mezcal. And absolutely capable of blowing your mind when you taste it properly. If you've only had a shot of tequila and you've never experienced real tequila, so let me know in the comments. What was the Tequila that finally made you stop shooting and start sipping? Or are you still on that journey? I've been there too.
