Best Reposado Tequila of 2025? Yéyo Tequila Review (Ex-Rum Barrel Aged)

[00:00:00] Okay, guys, I'm back with one of my favorites. Let's review the repo Yayo. This is an awesome tequila master. Distiller Sergio Cruz and part owner of the brand with John Ballinger. They do a great job in making tequila. And one of the things they did special in this one is 8 months in x 4 square rum barrels. And the flavor profile you get out of this is phenomenal. So those great agaves that come from the Vivianca family brought to the distillery there at 14:14, cut into halves and quarters, loaded into their awesome steam ovens, cooked for hours and hours until they're done. And just right from there to a roller mill and then thrown into stainless steel open fermentation, wild fermentation with some champagne yeast, playing that Mozart music, making this thing really ferment fantastically. Twice distilled in those copper pots that are amazing there. And then again aged in X4 square rum barrels. So brings out a whole another level of tropical flavors. And this is, bar none, one of my favorite reposados. Tequila matchmaker. I think this thing rates out at over a 90. So let's bust into this one. Let's give it a nose. You get the cooked agave, but you get this tropical flavor on the nose. Pick up some pineapple, some coconut, definitely some citrus, along with all of the cooked agave that you get. It's fruity, but you do get just an outstanding amount of orange in the nose as well. So let's. Let's hit the taste here. Cooked agave, a lot of spices. I pick up some butterscotch, even a little bit of chocolate. I definitely get a tropical fruit flavor like a pineapple or a. [00:01:43] I don't know if I want to say coconut, but there's something that's also a little nutty in that flavor. Definitely get a little bit of vanilla and a little bit of that. That. That taste of rum. It's not that there's any rum in there, but there's. There's a tropical nest that I get in a rum flavor that I pick up in this. This is amazing. I'm. I'm going to have to order another bottle because this one's almost gone. John, thanks for sending me this bottle to try. There is no other tequila that is made that I have had these kind of flavors in a reposado. It is so tropical and so flavorful with so many different fruits and spices. It'll blow you away, yet still be true to what agave and tequila tastes like. Because that cooked agave is right in the forefront. You can't miss that this is tequila.
