Show Notes

Discover one of the rarest and boldest tequila releases of the year. The NY/NJ Agave Club x Partida Añejo Single Barrel is a rare high-proof tequila, bottled at an incredible 53% ABV and aged for 30 months in ex-bourbon barrels. This exclusive añejo single barrel review explores how rich notes of vanilla, caramel, and almond combine with the elevated proof to create a tasting experience unlike any standard 40% añejo.

The New York/New Jersey Agave Club partnered with Tequila Partida to hand-select this one-of-a-kind barrel. What makes this release even more meaningful is that proceeds benefit both the Tequila That Cares Foundation and the Tequila Interchange Project, supporting education, sustainability, and the future of agave spirits.

In this review, I’ll share the backstory, full tasting notes, and why this single barrel selection stands out as one of the most exciting limited tequila releases of 2025.

[00:00:00] Every once in a while, a tequila club gets access to something truly special. A barrel that will never be repeated. Today I'm going to dive into the New York, New Jersey Agave Club's exclusive single barrel pick from Partita Anejo. It has been aged for 30 months and bottled at a powerful 53 ABV. This one just isn't tequila. It's history, flavor, it's charity in a glass. Partita Tequila is a respected tequila. It's a brand that's known for its, it's balance, it's refinement, their constant work towards staying traditional and also a clean tequila. The New York New Jersey Agave Club collaborates with lots of brands to create something special. And this time they worked with Partita to select one special barrel. And then to top it off, they decided to let a portion of the proceeds go to help the Tequila that Cares foundation and the Tequila Interchange project Age for 30 months in ex bourbon barrels. And they're awesome. My wife and I was at Partita back a few weeks ago and got the opportunity to taste some of the anejos straight from the barrel. This one is actually bottled at a very rare 53% ABV, which is high for anejo that are normally barreled at 40 ABV. Let's dive into the nose of this thing. [00:01:29] On the nose I get really nice cooked agave. I get a nice vanilla note, I get some toasted oak and really even a little bit of like a roasted nut of some kind, maybe like a roasted almond man. On the palate, nice sweet cooked agave, a real balanced sweetness. You get this nice caramel, musty barrel note flavor, so a lot of minerality and a nice sweet, peppery nuts. As it starts to kick in at the finish, it also gets a little bit warm because it is, you know, that high proof. That sweetness also is a little bit of fruitiness. And then in the finish it's long, it's nice, it's got some great flavor in there and that sweetness is there. You get a little bit of that nuttiness that I picked up in the nose and a little bit of tingle in the back. It, it really intensifies the flavors being this higher proof. And you really get some really great agave flavor in this one. Not to mention that nice barrel, musty barrel aging flavor that I really like. This isn't just a bottle, it's a community project supporting charitable causes in Mexico and beyond. The rare limited bottle like this is about a connection and experience, not just collecting.
