Viva Mexico World Edition High-Proof Blanco: 48% for 48 Countries!

[00:00:00] 48 countries, 48% alcohol. Three different yeasts representing the three host nations. This might be the coolest tequila release made for the 2026 World Cup. And there's only 1, 200 bottles. And yes, I know what you're thinking. I'm wearing a Spain jersey and Spain isn't hosting anything. So let's hope they stick around long enough in the World cup to do a good job in a few matches. This is the brand new Viva Mexico world edition Hyper blanco. This bottle is pretty special to me. I actually picked it up at the distillery when I was down there for the Viva Mexico 32nd anniversary party. If you know Viva Mexico, you know I already have a lot of respect for what they're doing there. This comes out of nom 1414 made by Sergio Cruz. And for the world edition, they decided not to just slap some soccer graphics on a bottle and call it a limited edition. They actually built a tequila around the 2026 World Cup. First thing's the proof. They bottled it at 48 ADV 96 proof representing the 48 countries that competed in the 2026 World cup and then the did in fermentation. 26 World cup was hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada. So they used three different yeast strains, each yeast representing one of the three host countries. That is a pretty creative way of tying what's happening inside the bottle to the World cup instead of just creating, like we said before, World cup packaging. And this is a huge marketed release either only 1200 bottles. So this is legitimately limited production wise. 100% Blue Weber Agave from the highlands. All state grown agave. This one is tona crushed. So there's another reason to be excited to bring this bottle home. You got highland, you got to Hona 3 yeast, 48 ABV. This one, no question, is going to be fantastic. So let's get it in a glass. Now I'm cheating. I did get to drink this already at the distillery, so I already know I love this one. But it's going to be fun to do an actual review and talk about the nose and the taste. Okay, let's dive in on the nose right away. You can tell it's a higher proof. There's just a big punch of agave, some citrus, some pepper. There is that minerality that you always get from a 1414 tequila. You can always tell the thumbprint of the tequilas that come out of this distillery. There's also a nice fruit in there. I almost want to say it's a little bit of maybe Apple to potentially a little bit of hair. Now, one thing that's really cool is being this high of a proof. You'd think that the alcohol would just really take over in the glass. It's really not. You get a little hint of alcohol, a little first push when you get the first nose, but after that, it really settles in like a regular 40% tequila. Okay, let's jump into the taste. Oh, my gosh. Cooked agave get a nice peppery. That minerality is there. There's some citrus, but I do think what I said may have been apple or pear really turns into some green apple flavor. And there's a nice round of cinnamon in the finish as well. If you asked me if it was high proof in the glass, I wouldn't be able to say, man, that's a lot of alcohol. It really isn't. It's very easy to drink. The finish really does heat up with that pepper, that cinnamon and those spice are there. And that cooked agave is just like w. So this I'm going to say to me is one of the best Viva Mexico's I've ever had. And if you've had the tohono, that they came out with this really good. And if you've had the Madeira, which is also fantastic, this, to me, is almost a blend of those two together. The flavors are just really strong, very cool to Gobi, and outstanding flavors in this one. It's almost so good. It's overwhelming to be able to explain it all. You know, the World cup story is really cool as well. I've not been a big soccer fan, and this year I watched more soccer than I ever have before. So I'm pretty excited to have this bottle. That's a collector's bottle, but also a fantastic tequila. The cool thing is you won't be able to tell when it's gone because I won't take this wrapping off. Another thing that sticks with me is having the opportunity to pick this bottle up during the 32nd anniversary and spending time with Sergio Vanka and Cesar and Sergio Cruz and really the whole crew that was there and the people that work at the distillery was so fun, and I'm so thankful that they invited us and let us spend time with them.
