Valor Single Barrel Tequila: A Barrel With a Purpose

[00:00:00] Some people have problems with single barrel tequilas and for me, I'm going to tell you one of the reasons why I like them. This bottle right here, it doesn't have a label on it yet and there's a pretty cool reason why. This weekend we went back down to Jalisco and tequila. We went to nom 1599 Familia Landeros where they make Atanasio just outside of the town of San Pedro Los Landeros that this bottle is going to help. We pulled my single barrel velour anejo and this is it. It isn't officially bottled yet and there's no official label on it yet, but right Here it is 10 tequila straight from the barrel that I personally selected. What made this trip even better was having my wife Tony, my daughter Brittany and her boyfriend Chris there with me. They got to be a part of this entire experience, tasting the barrel with me, and honestly, that's going to make this bottle mean a little bit more when I look back on it years from now. I've visited a lot of distilleries and had some incredible experiences and getting to share something like this with my family is pretty special. And this weekend wasn't just about my barrel. My friend Keith from Paragon Pacific Imports was there to select his own single barrel of velour as well. And I got the pleasure of helping him taste through several barrels and choose his. If you've never had the opportunity to do a barrel selection, it is a pretty cool experience because what you find out is every single barrel has a personality. You taste through them, you talk about what everybody's getting, you go back and forth between your favorites and eventually there's that moment when you say, that's it, this is the one, that's my barrel. And that's exactly what we did. But we weren't finished. We got to spend time with some great people, Cristiana and the whole Velar team. And they let us taste through the final blending of the the upcoming velor anejo. And then we got the chance to taste through the upcoming velour extra anejo. I'm not going to get into either of those today because there's plenty more about them coming up. But I got to tell you, there's some really exciting things happening with velour. And now that I'm back home holding this unlabeled bottle of my barrel, I'm not going to sit here and turn this into a traditional review. That's not what this video is about. I'm just Going to pour some, enjoy it and talk about what happened this weekend because there's actually a much bigger reason why I'm excited about this particular barrel. All of the profits from the sale of this single barrel are going to go to the Hint of Wina foundation. And to me that's where the story changes. It isn't about going to Mexico and picking a barrel and getting to put my name on something. We actually have the opportunity to take something that we love and use it to hopefully do something good for other people. It was really exciting to help raise money to put water at every single family's home in San Pedro los Landeros. And you really have seen their lives change and the pride that they take in their neighborhood. We've walked through the neighborhood, we've talked with the people multiple times and it's really exciting to see how much their lives have changed. So there's a lot of new things coming next now that the water has been done and this bottle or barrel and Key Sparrow are also going to help make some of these next things come true. And I can't wait to put that information out there and share with you those upcoming changes. I'll give you a hint. It has something to do with healthcare. So right now it doesn't have the label. It's not in bottles yet. But that's all coming soon and one once it does. To think back of standing there at 15.99 with my wife, my daughter and her boyfriend, tasting through this together is going to mean so much more. I hope everybody gets the opportunity to get it. Although there's probably only going to be 260 plus bottles but we'll put it out there early so people can pre order and pick this up and know that you're going to do something to help other people. This is a barrel with a purpose. It's not just a single barrel to be a single barrel. And I got.
