[00:00:00] What if I told you this was 30% sugarcane, would you still drink it? Today we're going to review Lost Lore's on Premise blanco made at nom 1414. And yes, this is officially a mixto. But here's a twist. It's 90 proof, carefully fermented and intentionally blended. So is mixto just a dirty word or is it something completely misunderstood? Let's break this down. First of all, five to six year old blue Weber agaves. One of the things they did different here, they harvested those agaves and they did a 1 inch hema cut. The tighter 1 inch cut removes more of the bitter pinka and the green material. It's a cleaner in fermentation and less vegetal harshness. And this is a highland agave cooking. Those great stone brick ovens there at 1414 traditional oven cooking for a minimum of 24 hours. In the brick oven extraction is a roller mill milled to 10 brix. That's impressive and that's important. 10 brix gives controlled sugar concentration before fermentation, allowing the balance when they introduce the secondary sugars. I talked to my buddy Sergio today to get some information on it. This is 70% Blue Weber Agave Sugars and a 30% cane sugar. It was fermented with a rum yeast double distilled in their copper pots. It was 55% alcohol before they did the proofing. So yes, legally it's a mixed dough. Anything under a hundred percent agave must be labeled that way. But here's what matters. This isn't 51% agave is trying to stretch margins. This is a controlled 7030 formulation and that's really different. I'm excited about popping this and getting it in a glass. Now I also want you to know I'm very excited to be able to announce to the good folks in Indiana Lost Lore Tequila is on its way. We will have Lost Lore Tequila available here in restaurants and bars very soon. So keep your eyes out. I'm stoked about it. Let's go. Cult agave.
[00:02:02] It's a real bright nose. It's like, I don't know how to call it an Esther note. There's some citrus oils. There's that minerality backbone to it. And there's a light hint of like a molasses smell. There's a little bit. I said like a bright Esther note. But some of it is banana and like ripe tropical fruits. Let's hit it. Let's go.
[00:02:27] There's a nice sweet note. You pick up cooked agave. But I also Pick up like a tropical, like, almost like a pineapple. A banana.
[00:02:37] Yeah, that. That's really cool. I don't. I can't even name all those flavors. There's like a banana, pineapple, like, orange note.
[00:02:45] It has a nice mouth feel. I wouldn't say that this feels like a mixed dough. The mouth feels really nice. The cane sugar doesn't, like, change it a whole lot. It must be that rum yeast adding that tropical note. And the cooked agave is really strong too. I do like that it is at a higher ABV. Coming in at 45, that maybe adds a little more agave character than if it was at a lower eight. The finish is. It's got a nice length to the finish. There's a lot of sweetness that hangs around, but it has, like a clean, like, mineral note in it and a mild, like, pepper fade. And that coked agave just kind of disappears as well. Why'd they call this On Premise Blanco? On premise means it's made for people in the restaurant and bar industry. On premise likes a higher proof for their cocktail programs. Because it's a mix dough. It does come in at a much lower price point. So then it's a little more affordable for bars and liquor stores. But for an educated, driven tequila fan, I think you'd like this. And people who are really curious about fermentation influence, this one is really cool. The flavor differences from, obviously that rum yeast that Sergio told me about does make a big difference. So mixto doesn't always automatically mean low quality. This is thoughtful. There's a lot of intention behind it. It's properly distilled. It's a higher proof. It's traditionally cooked. It's lost lore. Come on, guys. One of my favorite brands. I talk about them all the time.
[00:04:13] I really enjoy speaking with Artura and Sarah, and I think what they're doing in the tequila world is really important today. So if you're looking for a well made, a little bit more of a budget buy, I would say this is a great budget buy for someone who's getting into tequila. It gives you a lot of craft with a little bit different flavor and a much greater price point. So definitely check out Lost Lure, Indiana. Keep your eyes out for this one. It'll be coming to liquor stores and restaurants near you. If you like videos about tequila, hit that like and subscribe button. If you like good tequila, give this one a try and sip on it. Let me know in the comments if you've had it and what your thoughts are on mixos. Cheers. Have a fantastic night.
