Tahona Blind Tasting | Can Fortaleza Beat Cambio, Maestro Dobel & Señora Leona?

[00:00:00] Can a brand new Tequila actually beat out one of the most sought after tequila brands in the world? [00:00:07] Or possibly could one of the oldest tequilas in the world, bringing something new to the market, be one of my favorites? Cambio? Today we're going to find out in a blind. Okay, if you've watched this channel, you already know how my blinds work. I put the glasses in the solo blind, filled them up, got the name plates inside the little holders. So now there's no way I can know which one is which. And we're going to put these guys at to battle. All of these tequilas are Tohona crushed, every one of them. So from Sonora Leona, to of course, Fortaleza Blanco, which is, you know, who's not trying to buy some fortaleza. And then this new beast to the market. This is Dobel's new Tojona product. [00:00:55] We're gonna see if we can find that one in here. And then of course, one of my favorite tequilas, Cambio Tequila. It's so good. [00:01:02] It has such a rich flavor to me. So let's see. One, can I guess which ones are which? And two, will I be able to tell you if the newcomers to the market are beating the old guys? Okay, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna nose through each one and then I'm gonna line them up of which one of the nose I like the best. And then from there I'm gonna taste them and pick my favorite. So let's just start with the first one. [00:01:27] A little bit of cooked agave. There's a little bit of funky note there. [00:01:30] This one really doesn't have a whole lot going on on the nose, but it does have this little funky quality to it. So there's the first one. Okay, let's dive into the second one here. [00:01:41] Nice cooked agave. There's a nice citrusy note, a little bit of a floral note. [00:01:48] Okay, so that right there is really good little vegetal cooked agave. [00:01:55] Very familiar to me. Nice minerality. [00:01:59] So I really like that one. [00:02:01] This one again, kind of light cooked agave, some vegetal notes, maybe a hint of cinnamon potentially. [00:02:10] So, yeah. So I'm going to say 1, 2, 3, and then 4 for the the nose on this one. So let's start with last place in the nose and go up from there. [00:02:23] Ice cooked agave. There's a nice citrus like zest, if you will. [00:02:29] Nice pepper in the finish of it. [00:02:32] That funkiness in the nose isn't definitely isn't there in the taste that's not bad. That's. [00:02:38] It's not bad. [00:02:39] Okay. It's not incredibly overwhelming either, but in the second taste in the finish, there's a little more sweetness. So let's dive into this one. [00:02:49] Lighter mouthfeel than this one. [00:02:52] A little sweeter, more of a vegetal heat than a pepper, but not bad. These two are pretty close together, actually. So I guess with this one winning in the nose, it's still in the front. There's a little citrus in the finish of that one, too. So that's. That's not bad. [00:03:09] Nice cooked agave. [00:03:11] Really nice minerality. Earthy, almost petrichor. [00:03:16] There's a little bit of anise in there. [00:03:19] The finish is not, like, super hot. Just like a nice, balanced finish. [00:03:25] That is really good. And I think I know what that is. [00:03:28] Wow. There's so much more minerality now in this one after tasting these others, that it just brings the minerality out in the. In the nose. [00:03:37] Awesome mouthfeel. Great cooked on a little bit more heat, a little bit more citrus, a little floral. [00:03:44] Really nice sweetness across the board. That one right there, I'm gonna say, is number one. [00:03:50] And I believe one of these is Fortaleza and one of these is Cambio. Just based on the flavor profile of them. I could be completely wrong, but I'm gonna say they're gonna stay in this order, as this one is number one. Number two. Number three. Number four. Four. So let's pull number four first. What do we got? We got Dobel. [00:04:09] So number four is Dobel. Again, not bad. [00:04:13] That's a drinkable tequila. And especially when you put it in this blind and you don't know what it is, your preconceived notions go away. [00:04:22] So let's go with number three. It is Leona. So the newcomer here got third place again. Nice tequila. When you look at the price of that tequila, I think it's under 30 bucks. So that's going to put it in a really cheaper price point. [00:04:41] I'm going to go on a limb. I'm going to say that this one right here is Fortaleza. [00:04:45] And Fort. [00:04:47] I drink Fortaleza enough that I really can pick up its profile. [00:04:52] There's just some nice things that a nice that I got tonight. It's very, very common. So that means this one here is definitely Cambio. And there you go. Gambio. [00:05:01] Cambio is one of my favorite Tohona blancos. [00:05:05] It's. To me, it's one of the best tequilas out there on the market. So Cheers. I hope you liked this blind. I think it's kind of cool to stack these guys up against, you know, a brand new product. [00:05:18] A brand new brand. It's kind of neat to have them come in with some brands that I'm really familiar with, that I really like. [00:05:24] I gotta say, pretty good for Dobel and Senora Leona. Senora Leona. I gotta say, good job there, too. Especially at the price point. Bringing a Tohono product out under 30 bucks is pretty amazing. [00:05:37] So tell me what you think about this blind.
