[00:00:00] Hey guys, let's talk about a couple tequilas here that I'm really excited about. I got the opportunity to meet with Ivan, the owner of this brand, and go to their distillery, 1639, which was out by Jesus Maria. We had a great time. We finished up at another distillery out there and we got a call late in the afternoon. They said, hey, why don't you guys come by, we'd love to show you around if you're available. We were. So we drove down a couple of these back old dirt roads with beautiful, beautiful blue agave fields on both sides of us. It was absolutely picturesque. So amazing. We pull up to this little building that just had some big steel doors on it and we're like, man, are we there? Are we here? We had no idea. And a few minutes later a guy pulled up and said, hey, welcome to our distillery. Popped open the doors to show us around. We got to meet their master distiller who showed us around the place and walked us through all of their process, but didn't speak any English yet. We still understood everything that he was talking about. They had a beautiful old stone oven that was, I mean, you could tell it's been there forever. And then from that stone oven went into a five pass roller mill. That was a really cool looking roller mill. From there into some giant open fermentation tanks to stainless steel with copper coils inside. And had a really neat little bottling room. And they took us down into this cellar in the back that was full of these barrels. And it was a pretty awesome experience that you can tell there it's a small group. They're making a couple of great tequilas out of this place. They're doing it with highland agaves, like I said, stone oven roller mill for crushing and a big open wild fermentation. So the tequilas that come out of there are really good.
[00:01:44] You got this really fruity nose. A little bit of the cooked agave, a little bit of orange. This is the blanco here, the Prestigo 18 Blanco. You get the nice, like, I don't know, we always talk about cooked agave. It is the smell of the agave and the steam coming out of that oven, you get that right on the front. I let this open up a little bit before bringing it out. Then the orange and the floral is a lot more present than what it was earlier. Has a really nice sweetness coming from the agave and you get this little orange taste or orange scent a little bit with some nice pepper in the finish. And the finish kind of comes on really strong to me and then, then it kind of fades away. Really nice. This is a really great tequila prosego 18. You can't find them in the United States yet, but it is coming, folks. This is coming out at 40 ABV, so 80 proof. The label is beautiful. It has a ronda right on the label. I'll flash some pictures and everything of the distillery we were at. It's definitely one to try. This is not only would be a great mixer and have a lot of agave forward flavor in a cocktail, but also is just a great sipper. Okay, let's break into their repo. The repo is the same juice, it's their blanco just going in some barrels resting right outside their distillery in the cellar. It was amazing when you walked into the little cellar section where the barrels were, it like dropped 20 degrees just walking into this little area and there were quite a few barrels there all stacked up. The American oak is what they' this has got a nice caramel oaky smell on the nose with that same cooked agave. It's a little floral and I get a touch of cinnamon. The barrel notes bring out really a nice, to me, a strong vanilla taste and I get a little bit of vegetal too. It's kind of like anise, a little bit, a little bit of bell pepper. That's a lot of nice flavors. It's amazing how much that barrel changes from one to the other. You can tell the sweetness is there. It's nothing artificial. It's a really clean tasting repo. This is really good tequila, folks. If you can find it, buy it. I know it's available in a lot of places in Mexico and it is coming to the US soon. I'll put some of the information for their social media. They have some great social media on TikTok, Instagram, I believe, Facebook as well. I want to say thanks to Ivan for inviting us out and showing us around the distillery and taking the time with us that you did. It was so exciting to come out there and really see a nice distillery that is really a homegrown operation that's working in a small area with great equipment and really producing a very fine tequila. So you guys have done a great job. I enjoyed it. Thanks for hooking us up that day and showing us around and taking your time with us and doing the tasting with this as well. That was a lot of fun. If you can find this tequila, pick it up, keep your eyes out for it and also update when I know that it's going to be coming available. I'll put some information out for it. We will have a brand interview coming up soon about this tequila too, where we can talk to Ivan about the whole name, how they came up with it, what his heritage is in tequila, and you know, the reason why they make this tequila. So. Prestigo 18. Check it out. Thanks for tuning in.
