[00:00:02] My name is Brad Nickham. Thanks for stopping by, tasting tequila with Brad. I want to do a quick video and just tell you a little bit of what's to come on this YouTube channel and why I did it and who I am. A lot of people know me as a mortgage guy. I own a mortgage company here in Indianapolis, Indiana. But my. One of my hobbies has been drinking tequila for well over 20 years. [00:00:23] First started drinking tequila as a kid. You know, drank that bad stuff, they gave you a horrible hangover. Uh, and then traveling to Cabo San Lucas in the early 2000s, I. I stumbled across a tequila called Cabo Wabo, which was Sammy Hagar's tequila, and ended up drinking that tequila a lot. I learned a lot about how it was made and how it was traditionally done. And then, of course, Sammy sold Cabo Wabo and it kind of changed the profile of that tequila. And during that time, my tastes were changing a little bit. I kind of migrated over to bourbon. And I drank bourbon for several years and then found my way back to tequila several years ago. And have really been inspired by the companies that are making good, traditional tequila. And got an opportunity to learn a lot about tequila from using an app on your phone that's a free app called Tequila Matchmaker. And Tequila Matchmaker gives you lots of fantastic information about the tequilas that are available, how they're made, if they're additive free or not, if it's a traditional tequila. And it helps you build a taste profile as you rate different tequilas within Tequila Matchmaker. So we'll talk about that more on the YouTube channel as well. And I'm going to share as many as I can. Every time I stumble across a brand new bottle, I'll bring it on the show and we'll open it up and talk about the profile, what the tequila tastes like. And the reason I did this was over the years, I've had so many friends that will reach out via text message with a picture of a bottle from Total Wine and saying, hey, is this a good tequila? Or hey, I'm at the liquor store and I'm looking for a good tequila to make margaritas with. Or, hey, I'm trying to buy a bottle of tequila for a friend who's a tequila person. What's a good tequila? So I figured, you know, I'm on the Internet all the time giving mortgage information on my other podcast, which is called Real Estate makes us drink, usually sipping a little tequila here at the bar and talking about real estate and mortgages, so why not make another YouTube channel and have some information about tequilas. [00:02:24] I started out with mostly bourbons on this wall, and today it has migrated from bourbons to over a hundred different bottles of tequila. I'm not a guy that hoards it, and I'm not a guy that just keeps it around. I'm a guy that drinks it. So you'll see the wall behind me shift out a lot and we will talk about what some of my favorite tequilas are and why. And I really looking forward to kind of having this little journey and talking about one of my favorite little hobbies or habits, whatever you want to call it, right here with anybody who wants to listen. So thanks for stopping in and watch for more video.
